Where to find help

For children and young people

Bris offers someone to talk to and support to children and young people.

Ungdomsjouren Animo is there to offer support to all young people, regardless of gender identity. They have an anonymous chat service that is open every Tuesday and Thursday from 6.00 pm–8.00 pm, as well as being available by e-mail. You can talk about whatever you wish. No topic is too large or too small.

Familjefrid Kronoberg offers individual counselling and group activities for children and adults on issues relating to violence in close relationships. They meet both victims and perpetrators of violence. They do not keep any records and have a duty of confidentiality. Support from Familjefrid Kronoberg is available free of charge.

When someone close to the child has died. 

The social services can help you with everything from counselling to sheltered accommodation. Contact the social services in your municipality:

Dinarattigheter.se offers information on your rights relating to honour-based oppression. A support chat line and e-mail support are also available. The site is run by Save the Children Sweden.

Killfrågor.se supports boys aged 10–18 years via a chat service.

Tris.se stands for ‘Tjejers rätt i samhället’, which means ‘Girls’ rights in society’. They offer a hotline and support to people living with honour-based violence.

Ungasjourer.se brings together all the support groups in Sweden that work to support and provide strength to children, adolescents and young adults!

Ungarelationer.se provides support and information to people up to the age of 20 who are victims in their relationship, friends of victims and perpetrators. You can chat anonymously every evening from 8.00 pm–10.00 pm. Here you can also find out about different types of violence, warning signs and what a good relationship can be like.

What to do if someone hurts or abuses you

Kvinnofridslinjen is Sweden’s national women’s helpline and offers counselling over the phone 24 hours a day. They can also help you with contact details for the social services, emergency social services and women’s aid services. The call is free of charge and is not shown on your telephone bill. Telephone number: 020-50 50 50.

Kvinnojouren Blenda accepts women from Alvesta, Lessebo, Tingsryd, Uppvidinge and Växjö who have been victims of violence. They offer advice and counselling to women who have been victims of various kinds of violence or violations. The contact takes place on the woman’s own terms and depending on her own needs, and you can remain anonymous when contacting them.

Kvinnojouren Märta accepts women from Ljungby, Markaryd and Älmhult who have been victims of violence. They offer advice and counselling to women who have been victims of various kinds of violence or violations. The contact takes place on the woman’s own terms and depending on her own needs, and you can remain anonymous when contacting them.

Victim Support Kronoberg is a support service that is principally concerned with providing counselling and practical advice to victims or witnesses of crime, or relatives of victims of crime or suspects.

Manscentrum i Stockholm is a men’s crisis centre and is expanding its range of remote therapies as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic. Therapy thus takes place online or over the phone. For more information, e-mail kriscentrum@manscentrum.se or call 08-6431183.

Roks, the National Organisation for Women’s Shelters and Young Women’s Shelters in Sweden, has emergency centres throughout the country offering support to women and girls over the phone, as well as other initiatives.

Terrafem runs Sweden’s only nationwide hotline for women of foreign origin. Currently, women can obtain support and advice in 43 languages. Telephone number: 020- 52 10 10. The call is not shown on your telephone bill.

Unizon has emergency centres throughout the country offering support to women and girls over the phone, as well as other initiatives. Some emergency centres are also aimed at male victims of violence.

Bris has a parents’ telephone line where adults can obtain advice and support.

The National Association of Support Centres for victims of incest and other sexual assaults in childhood (RISE) is there for women who were victims of sexual assault during childhood. The Association has a hotline (08 - 696 00 95) that you can call for support.

The National Association of Swedish Crisis Centres for Men is an umbrella organisation for centres that work to provide support to men in crisis. Here you will find contact details of crisis centres for men throughout the country.

RFSL’s Victim Support for LGBTQ people offers counselling over the phone.

Victim Support Sweden offers support to victims of crime.
