Patient fees
Patientavgifter - engelskaThe high-cost protection that is in place for healthcare services means that you will pay no more than SEK 1, 450 in patient fees during any 12-month period. Some services, such as vaccinations, are not covered by this protection.

Certain types of appointment are free of charge. For example:
- Gynaecological cell tests
- Mammography screening
- Tobacco cessation
- Appointments at children’s healthcare centres, midwifery clinics, and specialist maternity care departments
- Appointments for those aged 19 or younger, and those aged 85 or older.
If you are admitted to a hospital or cottage hospital, you will pay SEK 130 for each 24 hours of care.
If you do not come to a pre-booked appointment
If you miss your appointment or if you have cancelled it less than 24 hours before the appointment, you must pay a fee of 550 SEK. For a scheduled surgery, the fee is 1050 SEK. This applies regardless of age and even if you have a free healthcare card.
For children and young people who are not of age, it is their guardian(s) who pay this fee.
