Information for you and your child about vaccination against COVID19

Vaccination mot covid-19 för barn 12-15 år i Sörmland - engelskaThe content concerns Sörmland

If you have reached the age of 12 years, you will soon be able to get vaccinated against COVID19. The vaccine protects you from becoming seriously ill, and reduces the risk of you spreading the infection to others. Even if you have previously had COVID19 and have developed antibodies, it is still recommended that you get vaccinated. Vaccination against COVID-19 is voluntary and free of charge.

How to get vaccinated

Many schools will be offering vaccination during school hours. You will receive more information from your school.

If your school is not offering vaccination, or if you would like to get vaccinated earlier, you may come to one of Region Sörmland’s sites to get the vaccination. If you choose to get vaccinated here, you must be accompanied by an adult. The adult will need to present a valid form of identification (an ID card or passport).

The sites are located in four towns:

  • Eskilstuna – Kungsgatan 10 (Gallerian)
  • Katrineholm – Västgötagatan 16
  • Nyköping – Olof Palmes väg 1B (Träffen)
  • Strängnäs – Seminarievägen 10A

You do not need to book an appointment to get vaccinated at these places.

The vaccination sites' opening hours can be found here.

Additional sites may be added in the future. If you have not yet reached the age of 12 years, you must wait until your 12th birthday before you can receive the vaccination. Keep up to date with the latest developments here:

Two forms you will need with you when receiving the vaccination

Together with this letter, you will receive two forms that you must complete together with your parents/guardians and that must be presented when you attend the vaccination:

If you are sick or feel unwell

If you have an ongoing infection, or if you (for example) have a cold or fever, you must wait until you have fully recovered before you can receive the vaccination. If you have recently received vaccination against anything else, you must wait until at least 7 days have passed before you get vaccinated against COVID19.

After the vaccination

You will need to receive two doses of the vaccine. When you receive the first dose, you will be informed of when to get the second dose. It can take up to two weeks after the second dose has been given before your body will have built up full protection.
