Your partner cannot come with you to examinations during pregnancy. For example during ultrasound examinations. This includes both midwife clinics and hospitals.
The staff can make certain exceptions. There must be very special reasons for this.
Your partner can be with you during the birth
Your partner can be with you during the birth, but only if they are healthy. They must not have a fever, cough, or a sore throat. If they do, they cannot come to the hospital.
You and the child can be together after the birth
You and the child can be together after the birth, as long as you are both healthy. If you do you will both stay at the maternity ward. You can stay in the maternity ward for 48 hours. But you can also choose to go home after only 6 hours if everything is well.
Your partner cannot come along to the maternity ward.
Do you have covid-19 and are ill enough to require care? Then you and your child cannot be together after birth.
Planned and emergency c-sections
Are you giving birth by planned or emergency c-section? Then your partner will have to wait in another room during the operation. Your partner must not have a fever, cough, or a sore throat. If they do, they cannot come to the hospital.
Your partner will get to see the child after the c-section and you will have a moment to be together as a family.
You and the child will then be cared for in the maternity ward. Your partner cannot come along to the maternity ward.
If you are giving birth and have or may have covid-19
Do you have covid-19? Or a fever, cough, or sore throat which may be due to covid-19? If so, you will give birth in a special isolation room at the hospital. The room looks like a normal birthing room. The room is separated from the maternity ward. You will stay in the room after the birth. Otherwise other patients may be infected by
You and the child can be together as long as you are both healthy. This is true even if you have covid-19 or a fever, cough, or sore throat. However, you cannot be together if you are so ill that you need special care for covid-19.
You cannot be with your child if the child needs special care after birth. For example, if the child is born early or has other problems. The child will then be cared for at a neonatal ward.
All maternity wards in Skåne can receive you if you are pregnant and have or might have covid-19.
