If you wish, before your operation you may call to book a preparatory discussion with a nurse. This must be no earlier than four weeks and no later than one week before the planned date of your operation. The discussion will cover planning for the operation and an assessment of any medical and care aspects. We will discuss the preparations, tell you what will happen on the day of the operation and discuss self-care after going home. You will also have the opportunity to ask any questions that you may have.
The discussion is free of charge and is estimated to take around 15 minutes.
If you are in good health and are not taking any medication, and if you do not have any questions, you may choose not to have the preparatory discussion. Click on the link for a slideshow containing information prior to day surgery. View slideshow here.
When should you call?
Telephone hours for preparatory discussions are Tuesdays 1.00–2.00 pm and Fridays 8.00–10.00 am.
Please call our reception on 0470 – 58 83 61 to book a preparatory discussion no later than the day before you would like a preparatory discussion with the nurse.
