All women in Sweden between the ages of 23 and 60 are invited for a gynecological pap test. Having a gynecological pap test can help protect you against cervical cancer. Many illnesses develop slowly and it can take a long time for you to realise that you are unwell. Cervical cancer is one such illness. However, using a simple test, which takes just a few minutes, we can identify cell changes early before cancer develops. These changes can be removed through a simple surgical procedure.
Over the last 50 years the number of women in Sweden suffering from cervical cancer has halved. The reason for this is regular cervical screening.
The invitation letter which you received in Swedish tells you which clinic you have been invited to attend for the examination, as well as the date and time of your appointment. You need to bring your identification with you. Specially trained midwives will look after you during your visit. The sample is taken from your cervix and is not painful. You are welcome to have someone with you for support.
We look forward to seeing you!
